La Petite Coquais

Want to do something else besides fishing during your stay here? There’s plenty of experiences to be had in the local area, we recommend making a visit to some of the world famous Chateaux’s and vineyards of the region or go to one of the larger cities like Nantes, Rennes, Angers and Laval to soak up some authentic French city life. These cities are definitely worth a visit because of their rich and unique history with Chateaux’s, modern tram systems and exclusive boutiques, not to mention the incredible array of exquisite French cuisine available.

Nearby La Petite Coquais, you will also find some more local tourist attractions such as Terra Botanica, an amusement and botanical park, but also La Petite Couere, a unique eco and agricultural museum with a varied collection of animals and typical French villages is a must see!

Recently the new ATOL shopping centre near Anger has become a very popular location for the guests who have stayed here thanks to the vast selection of shops and restaurants in one location. There is also the market towns of La Guerche-de-Bretagne and Chateau Gontier with their excellent markets, bars and restaurants where you can have a taste of the local cuisine if you want to experience the local culture.

The jet set resort La Baule is an ideal destination for a trip to the coast but also the seaside towns of Dinan and St Malo are worth a visit too!

La Petite Coquais is therefore an excellent location to explore the area where guests come back year after year. It’s the ideal location for families wishing to experience France as much as the fishing there is on offer.

The Gite and the Lakes

La Petite Coquais is a large 18th-century converted barn with 3 rooms all with an ensuite bathroom. This barn is located in a small community amidst 16 acres of private fields and woodland with a private guest access to 3 Lakes where you can catch fish up to 15 kg+ (35lbs). It is a tastefully decorated and luxuriously furnished location including (English) satellite TV, DVD player, free Wi-Fi and central heating for guests who want to stay during the winter.

The fully equipped open kitchen with dining area has large French doors which give access to an enclosed private garden with barbecue facilities and a spacious patio seating area that is equipped with sun loungers. In the garden there is also a boules / petanque pitch where you can have a fun match with family or friends.

A perfect holiday base to relax in peace and quiet, but also a short distance from all the local amenities and close to lots of cultural activities.

Friendly Disabled options
If you have limited mobility, this location is a suitable option for you since the accommodation is all on one level (no need to worry about stairs). All rooms are wheelchair accessible except for the bathroom. In between the accommodation La Petite Coquais and the large water there is a spacious terrace surrounded by grass so during high season it is possible to go all the way down to the waterfront with your wheelchair unless it has been raining a lot.

Kitchen and dining room
You’ll find a superbly equipped kitchen with a large gas stove, an oven, a dishwasher, a large fridge/freezer, a microwave, a coffee machine and everything else you could need in the day-to-day use of the kitchen so that you feel right at home.

Living room
Within the accommodation there is a large living room with a vaulted ceiling making it feel very spacious. Within the living space is ambient lighting, a large English satellite TV, Wi-Fi, a DVD player and of course, very comfortable chairs and sofas. Radiators are also on location and can be used on colder days.

Bedrooms
Three en-suite bedrooms consisting of:
A spacious and tastefully furnished room including a King size double bed with direct access to the private bathroom.
Bedrooms 2 and 3 are also tastefully furnished with private bathrooms but contain two single beds.
Both rooms are equipped with radiators for the colder evenings.

Bathrooms
Modern bathrooms with Italian glass sinks, double showers including jet facilities, large mirrors, good lighting, towel rails and radiators. 

Heating
Oil powered central heating and radiators is present in all rooms so should cold weather encroach on your stay the housing environment is still comfortable. You pay on site for the eventual use of the heating and the spent oil. During the summer months it’s rarely required due to the warm climate of the region.

Entertainment
In your accommodation English satellite TV is available and you can use a DVD-player. There is also a large selection of movies available, but feel free to bring your own entertainment.

Outside, you can use the boules pitch in the private garden and of course you can fish for free on one of the 3 private Lakes.
In the proximity of the location, you can also visit the cinema where English films are featured or you can visit La Fontaine, an English pub with regular quiz nights and various animation programs.
Enjoy an excellent meal in one of the many local restaurants and bars.

Garden and surroundings
There is a private, secluded, garden with a large patio and a covered barbecue area with a large table and chairs. Sun loungers are also provided so you can enjoy the sunshine on the manicured lawn.
At the back of the garden there is a boules pitch where you can play a game or two.
There is also a separate room with a washing machine and a dryer which you can use and during the summer you can of course also simply hang your washed items outside to dry.

Parking & Access
All guests enjoy private parking and the two smaller waters are accessible by car.
The accommodation itself is on one level with just a few small steps and is therefore extremely suitable for people with lesser mobility. Specialized mobility equipment is available for rent in the area.

Information about any additional facilities
Bedding hire is non optional it is €10 per person per week (this includes all bed linen, towels, teatowels etc. must be paid in cash on arrival).
There is a non optional after cleaning service  of €10 per person (must be paid in cash on arrival).
If you have taken pictures while holding your catch of the day, free towels are available to clean your hands afterwards.
Central heating based on oil consumption is available on site (consumption is measured, payment will be made upon departure).
A small boat is available free of charge. If you want to do some night fishing, then it is mandatory to stay at the waterfront. The boat on our lake is not for public use ,it is for emergency use only.
