Grand Forêt: A Beautiful Location for Rest and Carp Fishing
Enough about the surroundings for now, because I could talk about it endlessly. You will experience that for yourself as soon as you are here. Here you can really relax.
The Water and the Swims
The water is estimated to be around 7 hectares in size and has six spacious, well-laid-out swims. Thanks to the gravel covering, you don’t have to walk through the mud. There are two small islands in the water, which also form excellent fishing spots.
In the middle of the lake, there is a channel that crosses the entire water. Along the side of the road, which runs between the two waters, you will find a large plateau, the shallowest part of the water with a depth of approximately 1.2 meters, where good fishing spots can also be found. On the other side of the water is a small bridge, an ideal spot for fishing.
The deepest point of the water is at swim 3, with a maximum depth of 3.3 meters. This swim is very popular with the fish. In addition, there are numerous other possibilities with slopes and variations in the bottom.
The Bottom and Rigs
The bottom of the lake is predominantly soft, perfect for fishing. Here and there you will find slightly harder pieces, but we mainly fished on the softer zones. Our 25 cm rigs worked perfectly. In some places, the line may get caught briefly, presumably old lily fields or some weed, but this does not cause any problems.
There is an obstacle on the deep side, presumably an old tree trunk. By adjusting your fishing to this, you will not be bothered by it. In consultation with the owner, it is permitted to use a rubber boat, which can sometimes be useful.
The Stock of the Water
There are few by-catches: occasionally a tench, sometimes a pike (this happened to us five times), and no problems with bream at all.
But of course, we come here for the carp. Here you will find common carp and mirrors that are particularly beautiful. Schubs are golden yellow and some have an impressive build. Mirrors are also beautifully colored and strong, with beautiful runs. The average weight is around 14 kg, with regular fish between 14–19 kg. There are also chances of carp of 20–24 kg, and according to the owner, there are even some above 25 kg, with a top fish of 29.8 kg.
During our two weeks at Grand Forêt, we caught 96 carp, which, according to the owner, is extremely good fishing. It is certainly not a run water, but with the right approach, you can catch excellent fish here.
Ideal for Rest and Company
This water is perfect for anglers looking for peace and challenge. A maximum of 6 anglers is recommended, so that everyone has enough space. Ideal with a buddy or a group of friends.
Facilities around the Water
- Clubhouse: Spacious, ideal for sitting or eating together.
- Sanitary facilities: Separate building with showers and toilets, including hot water.
- Electricity: Not constant, but available on request via the owner’s generator.
- Garbage: Two large bins available.
In addition, there is a supermarket a 5-minute drive away, and if you have any questions or problems, you can always contact Fabrice, the owner, a very helpful manager.
Conclusion
Grand Forêt is a fantastic location for carp anglers who appreciate peace, space and beautiful fish. We will definitely come back and hope you have the same experience. Good luck with your fishing week!
Greetings,
Bjorn & Rony
