In the north of France, just above Paris, less than 400 kilometers from Breda, lies the beautiful Chef de Ville.
Chef de Ville is an elongated body of water of 7.5 hectares, bordered by a dense green forest edge. Most of the pegs are created next to each other so that you can use the full width of the water. 8 spacious 1-person pegs have been made. If you are going with two people, you can of course opt for 2 pegs located next to each other and fish together from 1 peg. We would definitely recommend this for pegs 7 and 8 and then fish from peg 7. Chef de Ville is a water that is susceptible to weed growth. Especially in the summer and early autumn, the weed can be strongly present. We therefore recommend that you always bring a boat. The water was created by former gravel excavations in this area. The river Marne runs just behind Chef De Ville. This keeps the water level fairly stable, even in the warmer summer months. Because it is a beautiful, clear water, this is also an ideal location to rent exclusively with a group of anglers. The owner Anthony will give you a warm welcome. He speaks French, Spanish, Portuguese and English fluently.

Accommodation and/or facilities
In the middle of the grounds, just behind peg 3, is a neat wooden clubhouse with a kitchen, seating area and terrace, which is ideal for socializing. The kitchen may only be used by the owner himself due to French hygiene regulations. But Antony and Jennifer are only too happy to arrange breakfast for you or a tasty evening meal. The new, clean shower and toilet are also located here. There are also sockets in the clubhouse to charge your batteries, cameras and phones (this is available at an additional cost to be paid on location. It is forbidden to use/charge other electronic devices). You can also rent a boat here. Please note that as there are only 2 boats, you must reserve them in advance. The small town of Meaux is less than 10 kilometers away. Here you will find several supermarkets, bakeries, restaurants, a gas station and a Decathlon.

The fishing spots
Chef de Ville has 8 spacious pegs. 7 of these pegs are placed next to each other on the southern bank and 1 in the back corner. Each peg can be reached by car, which you can simply leave behind your peg. Due to the higher banks, the owners have created pegs that are built up in steps. Despite the fact that they are all 1-person pegs, you can sit on a peg with 2 anglers in consultation. The maximum is 8 anglers. The ideal situation is to exclusively reserve Chef de Ville for 6 anglers. The bivvy can be placed at the top, while the rod pods can be placed a few steps lower. Spacious wide steps connect the different plateaus. It is a challenging water with varying bottom depths. For example, halfway through your peg there may be a plateau of hard gravel stones or beautiful weed beds where the fish like to hide and find their food. But don’t forget the overhanging trees where the fish like to stay. A water scope/viewing bucket is definitely recommended to place your rigs precisely between the weed or to find the large plateaus. The depths vary between 2 and 6 meters. Chef de Ville is a water that is susceptible to weed growth. Especially in the summer and early autumn, the weed can be strongly present. We therefore recommend that you always bring a boat.

Peg 1: Is a beautiful bowl to fish. Here it is about 2 to 5 meters.
Peg 2: You can oversee the water and has an average depth of 2 to 5.5 meters.
Peg 3: Has a fairly even bottom gradient with an average depth of 2 to 5.5 meters. The clubhouse is located behind this peg.
Peg 4: Has an erratic bottom gradient with different depths, average depth of 2 to 5.5 meters.
Peg 5: Has an average depth of 3 to 6 meters.
Peg 6: Has an erratic bottom gradient with different depths, average depth of 3 to 6 meters.
Peg 7: Has an average depth of 3 to 5 meters.
Peg 8: Is located on the eastern part. At this peg is a large area with weed and aquatic plants. 2 meters to 5 meters deep. From peg 8 it is possible to fish the small island.

The fish stock
The fish stock is not yet fully known at Chef de Ville. Despite the fact that it used to be a pay lake with an excellent fish stock, there has been no active fishing in the intervening years. When Anthony first took the boat onto the water himself, large schools of large carp swam with him. But of course you can’t read any weights from this. This makes it even more exciting to discover the fish stock together with us. In the meantime, new fish have been purchased from a recognized breeder and released at Chef de Ville. These are chipped. This concerns 350 carp. Also, depending on what old stock comes to the surface, a release program may be set up with fish between 12 and 15 kilos. This is to keep the average weight nicely at level.
With the chip reader you can easily read the chip. This is located at the top left of the back. If you catch a fish without a chip, leave it in the weight sling while you wait for Anthony so that this fish can still be chipped.
The largest fish known at the moment are grass carp 32 kilos, common carp 26 kilos and mirror carp 27 kilos. But given the rapid increase in weight of the recaptured fish, we think the records will soon go up.

They are fragile fish, please take good care of them.
