Increasing the chances of a carp

What can you do when carp stop biting on closed water

Together with my fishing buddy I fished the same closed water several times. We heard the catches were declining and were curious as to what was the reason. There was no real dressage on the water there was normally fish being caught. We went to investigate and with success. Curious about our tips? Read on.

Different baits that increase the chances of catching a carp
When you have booked a fishing vacation you are probably looking forward to catching big fish and returning with nice pictures. It will be a shame if you don’t succeed, but you can increase the chances of catching fish yourself. The important thing is that you choose the right feed, so make sure you have several options.

Fishing on closed water how do you get the carp to the swim?
Although it may seem easier to catch a fish on closed water, that is certainly not always the case. It can sometimes even be more difficult than on open water. And that has to do with several factors. Consider the weather, season, temperature, dress, but also the anglers who have gone before you.

On a closed water there have often been anglers before you. The question then is how much did they feed. Was it small amounts or did they dump? To find out a bit I always start with a handful of feed per swim. When fish come off you can increase the quantities to keep the fish on your swim.

The different baits that increase your chances of catching a carp
Also, always make sure you carry different baits. Don’t assume that all carp catches are made with boilies. For example, consider a maggot rig pair of maggots and a fake corn on top. A handful of maggots with corn and some small pellets on the site and the rig on it. Also different particles can be used. Like for example lupin beans. These contain about 40% high quality vegetable protein. These beautiful white beans certainly stand out with their light color against the dark soil. Chickpeas should certainly not be underestimated in terms of bait. But you can also think of lentils, kidney beans, black top, black eye and I could go on and on. If you are going to fish with boilies try a different shape, make dice of them it can make all the difference.

Different nutritional values for the right seasons
Another thing you should definitely pay attention to when you want to go carp fishing is the right nutritional value of the bait. Always look for the right nutritional values that the fish need in different seasons. Before you buy different baits, it is useful to check the website of the water where you are going to fish with which bait you can fish. This can be quite different for each water. This is usually described on the site and otherwise you can always contact Angling Escapes.
