The lake
The final fishing spots are determined on-site through consultation or a lottery. Bay Lakes has a stunning stock of fish. This is not just in terms of weight. But Bay Lakes is one of the few that also has a very diverse stock of common carp and fully scaled mirrors. If you want to visit here, it’s advisable to bring a bait boat with a depth sounder. Unfortunately, a regular rowing boat is not allowed. In the high season, there is weed growth, so it’s wise to be prepared for this. The bottom is hard due to sand and gravel, so a few extra hooks are also handy.

The lake is approximately 6 hectares and a total of 8 anglers are allowed on it. On Bay Lakes 1, a total of 10 swims have been created, a large number of which are double swims. This leaves plenty of room for all anglers. And you have the possibility to ‘move’ during your stay. Stunning carp have been caught on Bay Lakes 1! The stock consists of approximately 300 carp with an average weight of 15kg. The water has an average depth of 3 to 4 meters. In general, the bottom is hard with gravel. Here and there you will find several soft pieces of loam. Depending on the period you go, there is more or less weed present.

Accommodation
Between Bay Lakes 1 and 2, there is a building with two showers and two toilets. At the end of Bay Lakes 2, where you also arrive, the owner has built a clubhouse. Here, you’ll also find a shower, toilet, and a kitchen.
Unhooking mats and weigh slings are available on-site. These must be used.

The fishing spots at Bay Lakes
You cannot book a swim in advance. These are allocated by agreement/lottery on-site. When traveling to Bay Lakes, it’s recommended to bring a bait boat with a depth sounder. Unfortunately, regular rowing boats/inflatable boats are not allowed here. In the high season, there is quite a bit of weed growth, so adjust your gear accordingly. The bottom is 99% sand and gravel, so it’s wise to pack an extra set of hooks in your fishing bag.

The fish stock
The average weight is around 15kg, and an estimated 250 carp swim their rounds. The heaviest common carp caught weighed in at 27.2kg, and the heaviest mirror weighed an impressive 25kg. I’m already itching to go!
