The lake
Bay Lakes is a water body ideal for bivvy fishing, divided into Bay Lakes 1 and Bay Lakes 2. The great thing about these locations is the diverse fish stock. Many beautiful commons, mirrors, and fully scaled carp swim around here. And importantly, they are also well-sized.

The final swims are allocated through consultation/drawing lots on location. Baylakes has an impressive fish stock. This isn’t just about weight. Bay lakes is one of the few that also has a very diverse population of common carp and fully-scaled carp. If you want to fish here, it’s advisable to bring a bait boat with a depth finder. Unfortunately, regular rowing boats are not allowed. During peak season, there’s weed growth, so it’s advisable to be prepared for this. The bottom is hard with sand and gravel, so bringing extra hooks is also handy.

The lake is approximately 4 hectares and allows a maximum of 6 anglers. Bay lakes 2 has 3 large swims in total, all of which are double swims. Here too, you have the possibility to ‘move’ during your stay. This needs to be arranged with the manager. The stock of Bay lakes 2 is certainly not inferior! Beautiful carp swim here with an average weight of 15 kg, with an estimated 250 carp in total. The water has an average depth of 3 to 4 meters and the bottom is generally hard with gravel. Here and there you’ll find different soft clay areas. Depending on the period you go, there will be more or less weed present. This is well maintained so there will never be too much weed.

Accommodation
Between Bay Lakes 1 and 2, there is a building with two showers and two toilets. At the end of Bay Lakes 2, where you also arrive, the owner has built a clubhouse. Here, you’ll also find a shower, toilet, and a kitchen.
Unhooking mats and weigh slings are available on-site. These must be used.

The swims at Bay Lakes 2
You cannot book a swim in advance. These are allocated by agreement/lottery on-site. When traveling to Bay Lakes, it’s advisable to bring a bait boat with a depth finder. Unfortunately, regular rowing boats/inflatable boats are not allowed here. In the high season, there is quite a bit of weed growth, so adjust your gear accordingly. The bottom is 99% sand and gravel, so it’s wise to pack an extra set of hooks in your fishing bag.

The fish stock
The average weight is around 15kg, and an estimated 250 carp swim their rounds. The heaviest common carp caught weighed in at 27.2kg, and the heaviest mirror weighed an impressive 25kg. I’m already itching to go!
