Bellevue Lodge

On the border of Normandy and Brittany, you’ll find the idyllic 20-hectare Etang Marolles and Bellevue Lodge complex nestled among farmland in an oasis of tranquility. The journey there is easy, and you’ll drive on well-known French highways until the last quarter hour. As soon as you drive over the small bridge onto the estate, you’ll know you’ve booked the right location. There are 3 lakes on the complex: the main lake Etang Marolles, the lake with the lodge called Bellevue Lodge, and a third lake still under construction.

They’ve poured their heart and soul into building Bellevue Lodge. This is evident when you walk into the accommodation. Everything is perfect and everything is neat. This makes them protective of the interior. They hope you will be too during your stay. To arrange everything properly for you, arrival time is from Saturday 4:00 PM until Saturday 10:00 AM. You cannot arrive earlier than 4:00 PM. Various swims have been created where you can fish from.

The lake
Bellevue Lodge is just over three hectares in size and contains everything a carp angler could dream of. Tree-lined margins, overhanging shrubs and lilies, weeping willows, and an island accessible via a bridge. All lakes on the Etang Marolles complex are fed by a stream, ensuring stable oxygen levels and consistent catches. The average depth in Bellevue Lodge is 1 to 1.5 meters, with some areas between 2 to 3 meters. The lake bed consists of a mixture of silt, clay, and gravel.

On each swim you’ll find many interesting features to target, such as gravel bars and silt and clay areas.

Intimate stalking spots next to specially built swims, lined with cherry wood half-round logs and finished with fine gravel, ensure they remain mud-free year-round. Bank sticks, single systems, or rod pods are perfect for use on all swims. Perhaps you’d prefer to fish from the lodge’s own swim, directly outside the patio doors and adjacent to the hot tub/spa – the choice is yours.

The fish stock
The carp living in Bellevue Lodge are very special. Over the years, the owners have hand-selected high-quality fish, creating a variety of specimens that offer something for everyone. The lake houses high-shouldered carp, fully-scaled carp, deep chestnut golden scaled carp typical of English estate lakes, fully scaled commons, mirror carp, perfect linear and leather carp species. They have several character fish that still take their breath away when they appear on the bank.

The lake contains approximately 120 fast-growing carp, with the vast majority weighing between 13-18 kilos. We have several grass carp up to 18 kilos and not to forget our resident sturgeon, affectionately called “Martin,” who will undoubtedly provide you with a welcome surprise. Our predatory fish in the lake are pike, zander, and perch. Bellevue Lodge has no catfish, Poisson Chat, or Ronnies (Crayfish). The lake supports healthy roach and tench, which helps maintain a well-balanced biomass.

Bait boats are allowed at Bellevue Lodge and are available for rent on-site.
