BosniaIn Bosnia, just across the border with Croatia, lies the beautiful carp lake Jezero Zabar.
Jezero Zabar can truly be called a water with an enormous, mouth-watering stock.
The complex originated in the years 1960 to 1970 as a gravel extraction site for roads and housing construction, and it spans 26 hectares, while the water itself is 19 hectares in size. It is a beautiful body of water to behold, with unique shapes where the 3 peninsulas give the water its distinctive appearance. The banks are covered with grass and trees, creating an atmospheric look, and the shores consist of vegetated edges, trees, and overhanging bushes.

16 well-maintained pitches have been created at the lake, each featuring a simple cabin with 2 or 3 beds, a picnic table, Wi-Fi, and a power hook-up. You can fish with 4 rods at each pitch, whether you are alone or with a partner. Personally, if there are two anglers, I would rent two pitches, as we find the pitches to be a bit limited in space for two anglers each using two rods. By renting a double pitch, you can decide whether everyone has their own cabin or if the double pitch is fished together from one spot.
Cabins 10, 16, 17, 19, and 20 have 3 beds.
Right next to the large lake, there is also a smaller lake with bungalows 8 and 9. This is the stock pond for the main lake, holding about 100 fish that are regularly fed.
The entire area is fenced, making it a safe place to stay.
Upon arrival, you’ll find the main building, which houses the reception, a summer terrace with a kitchen, and one of the two sanitary blocks with showers and toilets.
Behind pitch 10 is the second sanitary block with showers and toilets.
Additionally, there are a few simple dry toilets scattered around. All pitches are accessible by car.

Arrival and departure times are from Saturday 11:00 AM until Saturday 9:00 AM.
The fish stock
The fish stock at Lake Zabar is exceptional. The lake contains 1500 microchipped carp, in addition to the fish that were already present and have not been checked. Weights range from 10 kg up to 40 kg (based on calculations of stocked fish and average growth), and carp up to 38 kg have already been caught. Based on catch registration, the fish stock includes at least 300 fish over 20 kg and approximately 30 carp over 30 kg!!
The fish are regularly fed when there is no fishing and the average growth per year is around 3 kilos. According to the data, the carp stock is over 20 tons! And 3 to 4 tons of grass carp in different weight classes.

Cabin 17 is a double pitch with 3 beds, maximum 6 rods to be shared among 3 people.

Reservations can be made per week. Only for last minute reservations (two weeks before arrival, the minimum swim rental is 3 days, otherwise it can be extra per day.
The above amounts exclude €20 reservation costs.

2. Fishing rules
On all waters brokered by Angling Escapes, you are required to bring First Aid/Carp Care and treat the carp with it.
The manager, the owner nor Angling Escapes are liable for loss and/or theft of goods or accidents and/or personal injury. Both the manager/owners of the water and Angling Escapes cannot be held responsible for damage or loss of your belongings.
Important, ensure that you have taken out travel and cancellation insurance.
If the above rules are not respected, the owner may at any time force you to leave the premises without any refund of the travel sum.
