Casita Orellana

It is not possible to fish directly from the house, but of course you can put up an umbrella on the waterfront in front of the house for shade and cast your rods from there. Also ideal for a holiday with the family. The family can enjoy all the luxury that the house offers. And the fishermen can expand the package to include transport for carp fishing somewhere on the water. Or the predator anglers can go out on the boat. In fact, everything can be combined for the fishermen, in consultation.

The accommodation
When you enter, you immediately find yourself in the living room of Casita Orellana. To your left is the living room area. And as you continue, you’ll find the two bedrooms and bathroom. The open kitchen with a bar provides a spacious feel. The best part remains the terrace with its view of the water. Many people spend more time outside than inside the house. On the terrace, there is a large table with 6 chairs for dining outdoors. And there is a lounge area where you can sit comfortably with a good book and a beautiful view. Since the living area with a large balcony is on the first floor, you have a stunning view of this part of the lake and can see the harbor with its cozy bars and restaurants across the way. The house has been completely renovated and features a beautiful living room with an open kitchen and large French doors to the balcony, 2 bedrooms, and a lovely bathroom. The largest bedroom has a double bed, while the other bedroom has two single beds. The electricity is provided by solar panels and a good battery pack, which provides more than enough electricity for normal use. There is a generator available to recharge the batteries if needed. Cooking is done with gas, and heating during the colder winter months is provided by a manual pellet stove. In short, a beautiful house in a beautiful location.

The Orellana Reservoir (Extremadura)
If you walk down your driveway, you’ll reach the lake itself, where you can also swim excellently. The lake is the only Spanish inland water with the ‘blue flag’. And it is one of the cleanest European waters. This means the water is very clean and clear. Since it is a reservoir, there are also many different depths to be found, even right in front of the house, up to 15 meters deep. In terms of fishing, you can fish for carp, black bass, pike, zander, and American channel catfish here. It is possible to rent fishing equipment. Please contact us for this. However, we always advise bringing your own reels and bite alarms. If you’re coming by car, extra lead is definitely not a luxury. There are also many crayfish in the water. Therefore, an extra supply of shrink tubing is definitely recommended. Night fishing is not allowed. However, there is a night fishing zone at Orellana, and we can arrange boat transport for you.

The Surroundings
The Orellana reservoir in the province of Extremadura is the last of the three large reservoirs that regulate the level of the Guadiana River (from the point where it enters Extremadura) and is located between the regions of La Serena and Vegas Altas del Guadiana (both in the province of Badajoz). The landscape is dominated by the still waters of the reservoir, flanked by medium-high mountains (Sierra de Pela, 724 m, Sierra del Castillo, 697 m) that rise above the large expanses. In the village of Orellana la Vieja, near the house, you can experience Spanish culture or go to the nice bars and restaurants in the evening. There are also restaurants in the harbor, and various activities are held here during the summer months. A supermarket is reachable within 15 minutes by car. In Orellana la Vieja, a market is held every Saturday with all kinds of delicious local vegetables and fruits. A recommended purchase is the grilled chicken!
