If you love nature, you’ve come to the right place at the Goose Pit. On this water are namely no constructed cuttings, so the environment has fully preserved its natural beauty. This makes it an ideal water for carp anglers who like to be in the middle of nature and use a dinghy. Moreover, the Ganzenkuil is a challenging water with several slopes and houses a large and diverse carp stock, including real heavy fish.

The Ganzenkuil is an ideal water for anglers who like to be in the middle of nature and who want to use a rubber boat.

The Ganzenkuil is a 19 hectare water, located under the smoke of Nijmegen in Gelderland. This crystal clear excavation is originally a sand pit and therefore has great depths up to 22 meters. Because of these depths it is mandatory to use a rowing boat. The water has room for a maximum of 7 anglers (13 for exclusive reservations), so there is always enough room to enjoy your fishing to the fullest.

A natural experience

.
The Goose Pit has a pristine and natural character that makes you imagine yourself in a true carp paradise. Overhanging trees, vast lily fields and even some curious sheep define the picture. With a little luck you will spot a deer coming to drink along the bank. Far away from the crowds, in the middle of nature. No constructed cuttings or clubhouse: back to nature;that is exactly what the Goose Pit stands for.

Aarrival and departure times

  • Departure time: 12:00 pm

Facilities

.
On the Goose Pit there is the possibility of charging batteries, which is very convenient when you need to go out regularly, drill or charge your phone. The charging points are located both left and right next to the owner’s house. In addition, a point with drinking water is available. Several toilets are installed and a shower is added-a welcome luxury, especially during cold days or longer stays.

Natural cuttings

.
At the Goose Pit, don’t expect beautifully landscaped cuttings with gravel or wood chips. Instead, you will find six natural swims where you can change swims in consultation with the manager. Most swims offer enough space for two anglers. To make the nature experience complete, there is a good chance that you will see a deer or roe passing by, while kingfishers gratefully take advantage of your fishing tips. However, there is a factory nearby, so the peace and quiet on weekdays at swim 4 may be slightly disturbed.

Sign layout and map

  • Stek 1: Two-person swim. Paired with swim 7; on site you choose which one you want to fish.
  • Stek 2: One person swim, again available for solo anglers.
  • Stek 3: Two person spot.
  • Stek 4: Not bookable online. Can only be fished with the manager when swim 3 is free.
  • Stek 5: Two person swim.
  • Stek 6: Cannot be booked online. Can only be used by arrangement when you want to move.

The Goose Pit map shows a private area; no bivvy may be placed on this side. There are two entrances to the domain. Cuttings 1, 2, 3 and 4 use the small gate; cuttings 5, 6 and 7 use the large gate. Swims 1, 3 and 4 are accessible by car via a gravel path. If you are coming with a large van, it is wise to check the path first, as the vegetation can be quite dense in some months.

Accessibility

.
The roads to the other cuttings are unpaved. In dry periods they are perfectly accessible by car, but in wet months it is advisable to check first if the road is passable. Wheelbarrows and trolleys are available, and if necessary, you may boat your gear to the swim. When the ground is passable, cars may remain at the swim. A maximum of six cars will be allowed on the site.

Fishing stock

.
The Goose Pit has traditionally had a wonderful stock of pangolin and mirror carp, including fine dark old warriors. Due to the bottom gradient, it is not possible to fully net the lake, so the exact fish stock is unknown. Therefore, we would like to receive your catch photos to better map the stock.

New releases

.
Every year new fish are released to replenish the existing stock. As a result, there are now swimming more than 100 fish over 15 pounds and more than 30 carp of 19 pounds+, and 20-kilo/25-kilo carp are regularly caught. Thanks to the large amount of natural food, the carp grow extremely well. Bycatch is almost non-existent; only an occasional tench sometimes manages to grab your hookbait.

Our advice

.
To ensure fishing safety, a dinghy is mandatory and you should bring your own. A dinghy is not only pleasant, but also necessary because of the many obstacles under water. The use of a dinghy is at your own risk and wearing a life jacket is mandatory.

Along the water, there are many trees with overhanging branches and extensive lily pads. Therefore, it is extra nice to drift from your boat. If available, it is possible to rent a boat on site.
