Lake Varlaam – Romania Rules and General Information

Lake Varlaam:

1. Rules

You must report to the administrator at the times listed below.
If you are delayed, please contact the owner or us by phone.
Week from 7:00 AM to 12:00 PM (7 nights)

Lake Varlaam is an area of natural beauty, and it is important that all anglers respect the environment and the fish. Our goal is to create a relaxing, high-quality location with excellent fishing opportunities. The following rules apply:

Anglers must have their own bivvy, large carp landing net, and weigh sling. Only weigh slings with floating retainers. The minimum landing net size is 42". Only green fishing tents and umbrellas may be used. Bivvies may only be placed in designated areas.
Absolutely no fish may be retained unless specifically allowed by management. Any damaged, sick, or dead fish must be reported to management immediately.
When weighing or photographing a fish, scales, weigh slings, cameras, etc., must all be present and ready for use before the fish is taken out of the water. The fish must remain in the landing net in the water until everything is ready and should be out of the water for the shortest possible time. Fish must not be lifted above knee height. It is not permitted to stand up and hold fish for photography. The fish must be kept as close to the ground and the unhooking mat as possible and returned to the lake in a weigh sling or mat. Large unhooking mats must be used at all times.
Four rods per angler are allowed. More rods are possible at an additional cost and can be arranged on site.
Fishing is only permitted from the swim.
In case of line breakage, the casting weight must detach easily from the main line; this will be checked regularly. Use safety equipment at all times. All weights, beads, etc., must be able to come loose in case of line breakage.
The use of micro barbs is allowed. Barbless, twisted hooks, or bent hooks are prohibited.
The nylon mainline must have a diameter between 0.40 and 0.45 mm due to zebra mussels and gravel bottom. Snag leaders are required. Use 15 m of abrasion-resistant mono or fluorocarbon with a diameter of 0.60-0.70 mm. Leadcore and leadcore alternatives (safezone-style lead cores and tubing) can be used, but these must also be ultra-safe rigs and will be checked by the managers.
Braided mainline is NOT allowed on rods, but it is allowed on spod and marker rods.
Boats (up to 3 meters long), electric motors, and bait boats are allowed, but you must consider other anglers. You can bring and use them yourself at no extra cost. They are also available for rent.
Particles; the use of well-soaked and cooked particles is allowed. These may NOT be prepared in the cabin. Up to 5 kg per day may be used.
Only high-quality bait is allowed - we reserve the right to refuse the use of inferior quality bait on our lake. Absolutely NO tiger nuts or peanuts. Tiger nuts may only be used as hook bait.
Rods may not be left unattended while fishing.
Flexible markers are allowed.
A life jacket is mandatory (bring your own)
Damaging trees and plants is strictly prohibited.
Persons who cause damage to property may be held liable for it.
Caught fish remain the property of the venue and must be handled with the utmost care, No kill

Violation of the above rules may result in immediate departure. This can be decided unilaterally by the owner. Follow the rules so that everyone has a fantastic week.

2. General rules

The spot must be kept tidy at all times. No litter. All waste must be removed from the spot and deposited in the trash bin at the shower building. Anglers fishing in a spot where litter is found will be held responsible for the litter and may be asked to leave.
We want to record the growth of each carp, so please inform the manager of each carp you catch.
Alcohol consumption is allowed but in moderation. Alcohol or drug abuse will not be tolerated. Those found intoxicated will be asked to leave.
Quiet hours are observed from 10:00 PM to 7:00 AM. Loud talking and music are not allowed.
Swimming is not allowed.
Open fires are not allowed at the spots. This includes all forms of barbecuing. There are designated barbecue areas near the parking lot.
Once your equipment is delivered to your spot, cars must be parked in the parking lot for the entire duration of your session.
Toilets and showers are available 24 hours a day. Hot water is constantly available. Please leave these areas perfectly clean as you find them.
Management reserves the right to search any vehicle entering or leaving the premises to ensure that fish are not being removed, illegally transferred, or stolen. This right can only be exercised in the presence of the person using the vehicle, but refusal to cooperate may result in the termination of the vehicle owner's rights to fish and/or be on the premises.
All anglers going out on the boat during the cold season (from October 15 to April 15) are required to wear a suitable life jacket. Lake Varlaam or its employees cannot be held liable for any accident and/or injury to anglers or their property, regardless of the cause, while on site. It is the responsibility of anglers to ensure they are protected and aware of the dangers of fishing. All management decisions are final and cannot be appealed.

3. Sights and active recreation

If you would like to do something, you can take a look at the following:

Stone house Udrişte Năsturel

Str. Miloș Obrenovici 32, Herăşti 087126, Romania

Review: A beautiful summer residence (yes, some people had something like this almost 4 centuries ago...sic!). It's impressive how the stone house looks so good, with the most recent restoration carried out in the 1950s. It's worth the walk and would also be worth checking out in other ways (concerts, wine tastings, etc.).

Romanian Athenaeum

1, Strada Benjamin Franklin 1-3, Bucharest 030167, Romania

You can visit the Athenaeum building. Enter the building through the right entrance and ask for a paid tour.

Arcul de Triumf

Piața Arcul de Triumf, Bucharest 011453, Romania

Children's Town Bucharest | Orășelul Copiilor

C425+68 Bucharest, Romania

A perfect park for children, clean, colorful and with many attractions, shade and outdoor playgrounds. It could be improved in the bathrooms and in the abandoned barracks, otherwise it's great.
