River Lot
The Lot is a rain-fed river that originates in the Massif Central. From there, the river meanders westward, eventually flowing into the Garonne. Between its source and confluence, you’ll encounter beautiful spots such as the department capital, Cahors, and the slightly lesser-known charming town of Cajarc. However, the most beautiful places are Saint Cirq Lapopie and Puy l’Eveque, both considered among the most beautiful places in France. I think it’s a beautiful backdrop for a great man-fish photo. If you prefer to be even further away from civilization, the Lot is a true paradise. There are plenty of places where no one ever goes and nature still takes its course. Lot of Carp is located in Albas, a village in the middle of the most beautiful part of the Lot. In the nearby towns of Prayssac, Puy L’Eveque, and Luzech, everything is available: supermarkets, petrol stations, good bakeries, and of course, large carp! We mainly rent our boats between Cahors and Fumel. Another impoundment can be chosen in consultation. You can park your car with us.

Dutch Fishing Guide
Joachim Stelma is a Dutch fishing guide on one of the most famous rivers in France, The Lot. For years he came to France at least ten weeks a year to catch carp.
He has been coming to the Lot for years. He can find just about every path that leads to the river. It is a hobby within a hobby for him. He wants to know everything, he investigates everything. It has led to a lot of knowledge about the river. Think of water levels/flow, fishing techniques (per season) and especially the carp population per impoundment.

Fishing techniques
River fishing, especially on the Lot, is different in everything from lake fishing. It takes quite a bit of knowledge and experience to fish in the various conditions. There are many obstacles and the water can suddenly start flowing fast. There is a huge amount of carp on the Lot, but to catch them, you definitely have to put in a good effort.

Carp fishing on the Lot
Flow The Lot is quite fickle. Even in the summer after weeks without rainfall, it can suddenly start flowing very hard. When is the best time? There is actually no answer to this question. Every period has its charms and can be caught well in every period! The least flow is around the summer. The spring is often more changeable in terms of weather. Autumn is very stable: it is very pleasant until the end of November!

Impoundments
One impoundment is not the other, they differ in length, depth, soil type, vegetation and amount and size of the carp that live there. Some sections mainly harbor elongated common carp. In other sections, large mirrors are in the majority. There are also sections that have a combination of these two. This will be discussed before arrival so that you also have the best chance of getting exactly what you are looking for.

Order permit online
You can purchase a permit via www.cartedepeche.fr and print it out. The website is available in English. First, you need to create an account and upload a photo. Then, you choose which type of permit you want. A holiday permit is valid for seven days and costs €32. Under ‘association’, choose Prayssac. The rest is self-explanatory.
