Fishing Tips and Tricks

Securing your Rod Pod on a Jetty

You probably know the situation: You want to fish from a jetty but how do you secure your rod pod firmly? There are many types of mounting supports available on the market. Nice equipment, but as a carp angler you already carry so much gear, and these supports aren’t all made from lightweight materials, so they just add extra weight.

Bungee Cords

What I use is a bungee cord (luggage bungee), these are lightweight and take up little space. I always keep it in my rod pod bag. All you need to do is bend the metal brackets almost at right angles using pliers. I use a rod pod with 4 legs, but you can use the bungee cord for other rod pods too. You can also use two bungee cords if that works better.

How to Use?

Place your rod pod on the jetty and grab the bungee cord. Place the bracket in a gap between the jetty boards, and turn it a quarter turn right towards your rod pod. This will clamp behind the board, then place it over your rod pod.

Do the same with the other bracket, also in a gap between the boards, but turn it towards your rod pod. Now your rod pod is securely fastened to the jetty, so you don’t have to worry about it falling into the water during strong winds or when you get a bite.

I have been fishing all my life, but the carp bug started around when I was sixteen, in the western part of the country where I was born. I was less active in fishing for a few years, but the passion runs where it cannot be suppressed. Fishing truly brings me peace, being out in nature, and feeling the adrenaline rush when the bite alarm goes off. Besides carp fishing, I enjoy experimenting with everything related to carp fishing.
