Soaking Hook Bait: the Preparation

As a carp angler, you often bring a lot of equipment, and setting up your gear takes quite some time. Do you also find this takes too long? Then I have a smart, time-saving tip for you!

Preparing and Soaking your Hook Bait

Small handy grip bags are available on the market, often used for storing jewelry. They have a resealable seal strip at the top and are perfect for storing your small carp fishing tackle in an organized and safe way.

Attach your hook bait to the hair and then put it in a grip seal bag. Add your desired soak and seal the bag as tightly as possible (see photo). I usually do this the day before I go carp fishing, so the soak can be properly absorbed and your hook bait is ready to use as soon as you arrive at your spot.

Start by setting up your rod pod and prepare your landing net and unhooking mat. This way you can start fishing immediately while calmly setting up the rest of your equipment. Using this method, you easily save half an hour for three rods and your hook bait is perfectly prepared.

Good luck and enjoy your catch!

I have been fishing all my life, but the carp bug started around when I was sixteen, in the western part of the country where I was born. I was less active in fishing for a few years, but the passion runs where it cannot be suppressed. Fishing truly brings me peace, being out in nature, and feeling the adrenaline rush when the bite alarm goes off. Besides carp fishing, I enjoy experimenting with everything related to carp fishing.
