La Caravana de la Pesca

At the waterside stands a large caravan with a kitchenette, seating area, bedroom with two single beds and a toilet. The outdoor kitchen is equipped for two people with plates, cutlery, pans. The caravan pitch also provides space for a motorhome. There is a nice outdoor kitchen, refrigerator, shower, toilet and barbecue. For the caravan you will need to bring your own sleeping bag, pillows, towels and/or bed linen.
The seating area in the caravan can be converted into a 2-person sleeping area for extra sleeping space and there are two single beds.

The caravan/camper site is fully fenced, making it possible to bring a pet, but this should be arranged in consultation. The owner also has 3 dogs. The terrace is fully covered, and it is possible to further enclose the kitchen. There are two seating areas. One is outside under the trees with a panoramic view of the water, and there is a seating area in the kitchen.

The Orellana Reservoir (Province of Extremadura)

If you walk down your driveway, you will reach the lake itself where you can also swim excellently. The lake is the only inland water in Spain with the ‘blue flag’ and is one of the cleanest European waters. This means the water is very clean and clear. Since Orellana is a reservoir, there are also many different depths to be found, even right in front of the house, up to 15 meters deep. The beautiful Spanish wilderness, where you must be aware of the quickly changing weather, and it can be potentially dangerous when you are on the water.

In terms of fishing, you can fish for carp, black bass, pike, zander, and American channel catfish here. It is possible to rent fishing equipment or plan a predator fishing trip. Contact us for more information.

If you are driving this way, extra lead is certainly not a luxury. There are also many crayfish in the water. Therefore, an extra supply of shrink tubing is definitely recommended. Night fishing is not allowed, although all Spaniards do it. However, there is a night fishing zone at Orellana, and we can arrange boat transport.

All boats must be registered unless they are smaller than 2.30 meters and not motor-driven. For fishing, we recommend fishing with a maximum of 2 carp anglers. You may fish with 3 rods per angler.

The Surroundings

The Orellana reservoir in the province of Extremadura is the last of the three large reservoirs that regulate the level of the Guadiana River (from the point where it enters Extremadura) and is located between the regions of La Serena and Vegas Altas del Guadiana (both in the province of Badajoz). The landscape is dominated by the still waters of the reservoir, flanked by medium-high mountains (Sierra de Pela, 724 m, Sierra del Castillo, 697 m) that rise above the large surfaces.

In the village of Orellana la Vieja, about a 15-minute drive away, you can experience Spanish culture or go to the nice bars and restaurants in the evening. Note that different times are observed here. Everything is closed between 2:00 PM and 5:00 PM, reopening in the evening. You can dine at the restaurants from around 8:00 PM. There are also restaurants in the harbor, and various activities are held here during the summer months. A supermarket is reachable within 15 minutes by car. In Orellana la Vieja, a market is held every Saturday with all kinds of delicious local vegetables and fruits. A recommended purchase is the grilled chicken! The supermarket is about a 15-minute drive away.
