Peace, nature, plenty of space and mega monster carp! Orellana has a massive water surface area of 5000 hectares. This package is for the angler who feels drawn to these opening words. The Orellana reservoir is die-hard fishing and is located in the province called Extremadura in the middle of the Spanish wilderness. About 150km from the Portuguese border. For many people, it’s an unknown area.
People coming with their own transport should also keep in mind that many roads leading to the waterside are dirt roads with potholes, bumps, and rocks.
In Extremadura, there are 3 mega reservoirs, of which Orellana has the most beautiful carp inhabitants. You’ll also find huge pike, black bass, and American channel catfish. Carp were introduced to Orellana in the 1960s and haven’t been stocked since. But the carp are thriving here. Thanks to the mega source of crayfish and warm temperatures, the carp reproduce well here. The carp are incredibly strong, and the fights are long-lasting. For the carp angler, this is an unprecedented dream. When you see the fish shoot back into the depths through the crystal-clear water from the boat.

In Extremadura there are 3 mega reservoirs, of which Orellana has the most beautiful inhabitants of carp. Furthermore, this water contains gigantic pike, black bass, zander and catfish. In the sixties the carp were stocked in Orellana and since then it has never been restocked, as the fish here are steeped in history and have continued to breed and flourish in the nutrient-rich water of this immense reservoir. Due to the mega source of crayfish and the warm temperatures, the carp grow to enormous proportions in this lake and are all in pristine condition. If you hook one of the beautiful carp that live here, expect a fierce battle with these wild warriors, the fights are powerful and to say the least, Amazing! For the serious carp angler it doesn’t get much better than this, a true paradise.
It is worth noting that the islands here are protected for wildlife, and very high fines are imposed if you are seen on one of these protected areas/islands, so it is not wise to enter them. Due to the strict conservation of nature in the area, the water remains full of life, natural, and pure! Orellana itself has the European Blue Flag because there is no industry connected to it.
Night fishing
A special night fishing zone has been created for anglers, which is accessible by car. However, fishing from a bivvy is not allowed here. For most areas night fishing is prohibited and if you are caught fishing in an unauthorized area, you risk a fine. The amount of these fines varies and starts at €30, as the regulations are not clear. Therefore it is also often tolerated. Generally for Orellana you can fish everywhere during the day from sunrise until sunset. Many customers therefore prefer to choose this package, because the car is parked on private property with the guide and you are taken by boat to a location. Which is hardly accessible for cars.
Fishing licenses
It is possible that we arrange the fishing licenses for you. For this we unfortunately need a copy of your ID. But then you also get an annual license for Orellana.

Orellana la Vieja is a small village in the province of Extremadura. The province is about the same size as the Netherlands! In or near the village, there are several restaurants with Spanish cuisine. There are also 3 small supermarkets in the village itself. Every Saturday morning, there is a market from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. The market is great for fresh vegetables, cheese, meat.

When you reserve the holiday for Extremadura Carp, a deposit of €150 must still be paid on location. When everything is left tidy and nothing is broken, you will receive the deposit back in cash.
The accommodation is negotiable. Many customers choose to fish from the bivvy. And for longer stays, La caravana de la Pesca is often rented as a base camp so that batteries can be charged. Or the shower, fridge, etc., can be used.

Rules
Please note that night fishing with a bivvy is officially not permitted. There is a potential fine for this, so be careful when using headlamps.
- Open fires are prohibited. (strictly forbidden in summer!)
- There's a barbecue area in front of the house that you can use in spring and autumn.
- Upon arrival, check with Heiko Pahlke if the inventory is correct.
- Please note that the islands are protected areas. Do not go on them as fines amount to €6,000.
Tip: Bring mosquito repellent during peak season!

On all waters mediated by Angling Escapes, you are required to bring First Aid/Carp Care and treat the carp with it.
The manager, the owner, nor Angling Escapes is liable for loss and/or theft of goods or accidents and/or personal injury. Neither the manager/owners of the water nor De Vissende Hollander can be held responsible for damage to or loss of your belongings.
Important, ensure that you have taken out travel and cancellation insurance.
If the above rules are not respected, the owner may at any time force you to leave the premises without any refund of the travel sum.
