Protect your Hook with a Boilie

You can easily protect your hook from dirt, mussels and obstacles on the bottom. Use soluble PVA foam or a PVA stick for this. However, on some waters this can arouse suspicion. That's why we share a clever tip to protect your hook with half a boilie and PVA.

The Necessities

For this hook protection, you only need a knife, a boilie needle, and a piece of PVA cord or tape. Simple, quick, and effective!

Cut or Slice a Boilie in Half

Protect your hook with a boilie: Take a piece of PVA cord or tape between 8 and 10 cm. You can also keep the cord longer and then hold it side by side to extend the “Melt Time” of the PVA. This way it only falls apart on the bottom. Then cut or slice the boilie in half.

Thread the PVA Cord through the Boilie

Thread the PVA cord or tape through the halved boilie. A boilie needle works perfectly for this.

Tie the Boilies Back Together

Now you can see that the hook is well protected against dirt, mussels or snags on the bottom.

Good luck!

I have been fishing all my life, but the carp bug started around when I was sixteen, in the western part of the country where I was born. I was less active in fishing for a few years, but the passion runs where it cannot be suppressed. Fishing truly brings me peace, being out in nature, and feeling the adrenaline rush when the bite alarm goes off. Besides carp fishing, I enjoy experimenting with everything related to carp fishing.
