The Fully Camouflaged Rig

To make your rig and hook even more inconspicuous, you can choose to create a fully camouflaged hooklink and hook. Of course, you can also choose to camouflage only your hooklink. Both variants work well in weedy, pressured, and clear water.

How to Make this Camouflaged Rig?

1. Cut a braided leader to the desired length (do not use the weed/algae material as the core line).
2. Create a hair rig and thread the end through the back of the hook eye.
3. Cut the desired amount of feathers from the feather quill.
4. Wrap the leader twice around the hook shank and lay the feathers lengthwise over the shank.
5. Wrap the feathers five times around the shank and pass the end through the back of the hook eye.
6. Pull everything tight and trim the feathers to shape at the hook bend. Pay extra attention to the hook eye.

These steps apply to the full camouflage rig.

Required Materials:

  • Anti tangle sleeve
  • Hook (size 6) with a long shank
  • Braided rig
  • Weed/algae leader material
  • Two colors of green Marabou feathers
  • Super glue
  • Scissors

Camouflaging Only the Leader

1. Skip the section with the feathers.
2. Make the hair rig to length and tie it with a knotless knot.
3. Cut the weed/algae line to length and expose the core line on both sides.
4. Glue the end of the core line to the weed/algae material with a drop of superglue and let it dry thoroughly.
5. Carefully slide the weed over the leader and trim any excess material at the glued section.
6. Slide the anti-tangle sleeve over the line and make a loop. Always leave a small piece of weed clear of the hook eye for smooth hook rotation.
7. If the weed slides down, then mold a piece of putty onto the end to keep it in place.

Your rig is now ready to use!

I have been fishing all my life, but the carp bug started around when I was sixteen, in the western part of the country where I was born. I was less active in fishing for a few years, but the passion runs where it cannot be suppressed. Fishing truly brings me peace, being out in nature, and feeling the adrenaline rush when the bite alarm goes off. Besides carp fishing, I enjoy experimenting with everything related to carp fishing.
