In the middle west of France, in the Deux-Sévres province, towards Poitiers, you will find Etangs de la Crolee amongst the beautifully rolling French hills. The site is a total of 16 hectares and is securely fenced around the perimeter. When you come through the gated entrance, the holiday atmosphere hits you immediately and you know a week of excitement awaits you! The complex contains 2 lakes, named Crolee Bas (the lower lake) and Crolee Haut (the higher lake). Both lakes can be exclusively rented out and have their own large luxury safari tent with 35m2 of interior space and a weatherproof veranda covering 20m2. The interior consists of 2 separate bedrooms, a cot/playroom, a large kitchen and a lounge area. Due to the slight difference in height, both lakes disappear from each other’s field of view. In each safari tent setting you will feel alone with your family or friends on your own private lake.

The luxurious, toilet block is located between both lakes. Each lake has its own shower and toilet room, you will also be provided with your own key for this. This building also has a common room where you can chill out and there is a freezer here for bait/food and you can also wash the dishes in this facility. The toilet block is conveniently located around 50 meters from both swims.

Etang Crolee Bas
Etang Crolee Bas is 3 hectares in size. It has one centrally located swim, which has a generous amount of space. In fact it’s such a large swim you can comfortably fish here with a maximum of 3 anglers. The perfect social swim to enjoy time with friends and family whilst fishing in the beautiful French countryside. The luxurious and spacious safari tent offers room for a maximum of 4 adults and 2 children. Crollee Bas is fed by a natural spring so the water is fresh and keeps the fish and aquatic environment extremely healthy. The lakebed consists of silt, clay and sand. You’ll find it is a maximum of 3.5 meters deep. An oxygen pump runs through the centre of the lake and this shouldn’t bother you whilst you’re fishing, but it will ensure that the fish remain more active in the warmer periods.

Crolee Bas’s stock profile is superb. There are about 160 carp swimming there, many of which are exceptionally scaled ones, linear are common here as are fully scaled mirrors and some really interesting Ghost Carp too. Many carp in Crolee are home-bred and the local stamp of fish from this venue is really nice. Roach and pike also swim in the lake too. The biggest fish caught at Crolee Bas is over 25kg (50lbs+).
Bringing your own particles is prohibited, however you will receive 25 kilos of particle flakes mix on arrival. You are allowed to bring some hemp seed and a few kilos of tiger nuts as long as they have been properly prepared.
There is a plastic boat with ors for your use at the swim, although, it’s worth noting you should bring an electric motor, battery or fish finder yourself if you want to use the boat more efficiently.

Arrival and departure times
The weeks are from Sunday (arrival between 12:00 and 14:00) to the following Sunday (departure between 10:00 and 12:00).

Facilities
The safari tents are spacious and the bedroom layout creates a private and enjoyable holiday environment. Inside you will find a kitchen, dining table inside and outside as well as a living room area. The kitchen is fully equipped with all the stuff you need. The mattresses have a protective cover, but you will have to bring your own sleeping bag and pillows unless you wish to rent them at an additional charge. The sanitary building has a shower, toilet, sink and a large drying rack to dry your clothes. A boat is waiting at the swim for you to use when fishing. You will need to bring your own electric motor, batteries and depth sounder. Please always use a lifejacket when using the boat!

When booking Les Etangs de la Crolee you do not have to pay a security deposit.

It meets all the luxuries for up to 6 people (4 adults + 2 children). Unfortunately, there is no WiFi available.

When you select the arrival and departure day in the calendar, select which lake you want to book and a price calculation will automatically display on the screen, then you can book online.

Price per week from Sunday till Sunday £1085 | €1300,-

You have the option to rent extra pillows and bedding for €15 per person.

Rules

The weeks take place from Sunday (arrival between 12:00 and 14:00) until the following Sunday (departure between 10:00 and 12:00).

Vehicles must be parked in the designated car park.

Dogs are allowed but must be kept on a lead.

Swimming is strictly prohibited.

It is forbidden to wash dishes in the lake, please use the facilities provided.

A private bathroom with toilet is at your disposal (please keep it clean).

It is strictly forbidden to use the edge of the lake as a toilet, please use facilities provided.

Do not damage the vegetation.

Do not make a fire on the ground.

Avoid being overly noisy.

Please dispose of your rubbish in the bins (located at the entrance) Do not throw your cigarette butts on the ground or in the lake, use an ashtray and dispose the waste.

The swims must be clean on departure, a deposit of 50 euros and proof of identity will be requested on arrival and returned on departure.

The fisherman is solely responsible for any damage.

Drunkenness and illegal substances are strictly prohibited (the amounts of alcohol on the site are controlled and must be moderate).

Your presence on the site is valid for acceptance of the rules, it is your responsibility to take note of them. Please read and adhere to all the rules.

If only one angler I fishing you can use 3 rods, with two anglers you can use 3 rods each, however, with 3 anglers on the lake you can only fish two rods each (please do not leave rods unattended).

The anglers should spend the night on the terrace or in a bivvy next to the rods, not on the beds in the accommodation.

Only carp fishing is allowed, all other fishing is strictly prohibited.

A unhooking mat with a minimum size of 1m length is mandatory, as is a large landing net.

Only bivvys can be pitched (no gazebos or tents).

Boat fishing is allowed, all anglers must be equipped with a life jacket to use the boat.

Bait boats are allowed.

Only boilies bought in compliance with all French rules are allowed (full labelling, show us the packaging), homemade boilies are also allowed. You can arrange bait at the venue too, upon arrival you will receive 25kg of particle Flakes free of charge, all other particles are prohibited, only 5 to 10 kg of cooked tiger nuts and hemp seed for fishing can be brought on site.

H-block markers or floating markers of any kind are not allowed for marking spots, only marker poles are allowed.

Leaders and braided mainline are strictly prohibited, as are nylons less than 0.28 or more than 0.40 diameter.

Lead core is prohibited.

Only safe rigs that allow easy release of the hooklenth in case of breakage are allowed.

Maximum hook size allowed is No. 2, barbless hooks only.

Tigernuts are allowed in small amounts.

Fishing must be practiced with respect for the fish, they must be released immediately after the photo session. We prefer fish to be handled in the water or kneeling over the mat and fish should be returned as quickly and as safely as possible.

Fish sacks are strictly prohibited.

Pictures of all fish over 20kg should be taken in the water.

Marking fish or any form of mutilation is strictly prohibited.

Management reserves the right to immediate exclusion from the venue, and without refund, in case of non-compliance with the rules.

On all the venues that Angling Escapes mediates you are required to take first aid/Carp Care with you and treat the carp with this.
The owner, Angling Escapes can not be held responisble for damage, loss and/ or theft of goods or accidents and/or injuries.
If you do not observe the owner his rules he may ask you to leave the premises. Angling Escapes and De Vissende Hollander will not be responsible for the withdrawal of your booking by the owner and will not refund your payment or deposit.
Angling Escapes reserves the right to, after violation of the rules, to refuse further business with the offender.
Importantly, make sure your travel and cancellation insurrance policy applies.
