About Castle Lake
Castle Lake is situated near Macon in France. This beautiful lake certainly has its own characteristic appearance. Part of the lake is surrounded by a forest with large pine trees. Another part of Castle Lake meanders through the village of La Clayette and on one end of the lake a beautiful castle rises over the lake itself. A maximum of 16 anglers are allowed on this beautiful lake.

Castle Lake
The lake
Castle Lake is around 30 hectares in size and is one of the most picturesque venues we offer. For those who prefer to get a taste of culture as well as enjoying a superb fishing holiday, Castle Lake is definitely recommended for you. 21 comfortable swims have been created on the water. All of them are packed full of features to target. Swims 1,2 and 3 are situated close together which means they are the ideal choice for a group of three looking to enjoy a social weeks fishing. This also applies to swims 20 and 21 as they are also spaced close together.
Pegs 1 to 11, 13, 18, 20 and 21 are spaced well apart from each other and are great for single anglers to enjoy. Pegs 12 and 19 are double swims that offer a lot of space for anglers paired up on a social.
Pegs 11, 12, 13 and 14 are on the shallower part of the water. This side is very interesting because here the spring water enters the lake. In the summer months there is a string of luscious Lilly pads on this side of the water where the carp are happy to spend most of there time. Keep in mind with these swims that you will be fishing to snags so please fish them safe and effectively.
It is permitted to use a bait boat on swims 11 to 16.
The fish stock
There are very beautiful carp here at Castle lake. Some incredible ghost carp and the koi carp swim here and they really stand out in terms of looks. In addition, the lake is packed full of stunning common and mirror carp. There are approximately 1,600 carp in the water with an average weight of around 8 kg and the heaviest fish caught that we know of is over 23kg. End of 2020 new stock has been added. Beautiful Koicarp till 15 kilo and carp between the 22 and 27 kilo!
Services
The village of La Clayette is opposite the lake, so you can easily do some shopping. Or just go to a restaurant for something to eat. There is toilet facilities on every site. At the central point at Castle Lake there is a shower and electricity to charge any batteries.
