Etang Ulysse is located in the Champagne region of France. The well-known town of Lassicourt added another great location. Etang Ulysse is a former gravel excavation of 4 hectares, so there are beautiful depths in the water! It is therefore advisable to use a depth gauge on your boat or your feeding boat. Several bivvy spots have been created for anglers who like to fish from a different angle. And there is a neat accommodation right on the water. The accommodation has all the luxuries for 4 people.

The Water
It’s beautiful to go out on the boat to find those steep edges. Don’t forget to bring and wear your life jacket! Despite the nice depths, the carp also enjoy the shallower areas. So make sure to cast a line there. There are many carp between 10 and 15 kilos, but this won’t last long as the average weight will certainly increase. The owner has been feeding pellets, grain, and corn for 5 years to keep the carp in top condition. The depths of this gravel pit range between 2 and 5 meters. The bottom consists of sand and gravel and is quite hard. There’s a large plateau in the middle of the water. It’s advisable to buy pellets from the owner, as the fish are familiar with them. During the day, it’s possible to catch fish by sight. So bring some nice fluorescent pop-ups too. It’s possible to fish Etang Ulysse from various spots/swims. The most luxurious is from the accommodation. But there are 4 swims created in total. You can decide where you want to sit. Please note that where swims haven’t been created, the banks are made of gravel, which slides and shifts when you walk on it.

Location
Etang Ulysse is 6 hectares in total and is located along a main road (D-396) just outside Lassicourt, which means you can currently still hear traffic noise. This might be experienced as disturbing. Trees have been planted that will serve as a sound barrier. The cottage is about 400 meters from the road. The property is fully fenced, which is great for your pet! They can run around freely. The gate is secured with a number code. Etang Ulysse is located about 3 kilometers from Brienne Le Chateau, where there are two large supermarkets, a bakery, a tobacco shop, various restaurants, etc.

Accommodation
The accommodation at Etang Ulysse is small but practical and neat. The large covered terrace gives you the feeling of living outdoors and being on holiday. It’s possible to fish with 3 or 4 anglers from the accommodation.
A nice stone accommodation has been built on the long side of the water. The accommodation essentially consists of one large space, with a separate shower and toilet area. There’s also a fully equipped kitchen, with induction cooktop + pans, fridge, freezer for your bait, a double bed, and a fold-out double sofa bed. There are 4 sleeping places in total. But for comfortable use, we recommend 2 people staying in the accommodation. There’s also a dining area, TV, and a nice terrace. Pillows, duvets, and bed linen are provided. You must do the final cleaning yourself! Pets are allowed. A top location for families, or for carp anglers who want more comfort.

Bivvy Spots
At Etang Ulysse, it’s possible to fish with a bivvy. Several places have been created for this. But it’s useful to bring extra long pegs and a hammer. Because the ground is gravel, you need to go about 15 cm deep. You can place a bivvy on the created spots. Or possibly higher up the bank. There’s about 2 meters height difference. In some places, it’s possible to enter the water with waders, but remember that the gravel shifts. And in some parts, it drops off deeply.

Rules

You must report to the administrator at the times listed below.
If you are delayed, please contact the owner/manager or us by phone.
Arrival time 1:00 PM - Departure time: 11:00 AM.
- 3 rods are allowed per angler - When lines are in the water, you must stay by the rods.
- Use good strong hooks no larger than size 2 with or without barbs
- No benthooks
- No fixed lead system, only free running/safe systems are allowed.
- Ensure that the fish can free itself at all times in case of line breakage.
- Main line must be nylon, minimum 12 or 15 lb breaking strain.
- No fixed leads.
- No braided leaders or lead core. Only tubing.
- Only safe systems are allowed. In case of line breakage, the fish may only swim with the rig/leader)
- No tiger nuts or peanuts
- Micro particles are allowed such as buckwheat, hemp seed etc.
- Only canned corn which is also for human consumption is allowed.
- You must bring your own unhooking mat and weigh sling. Make sure you bring a large size.
- You must bring your own 42" landing net.
- Wet the landing net and unhooking mat before using it.
- Fish must not be kept in a weightsling or keepnet.
- Keep the fish wet during photography.
- Bait boats may be used provided they are used sensibly and no other
anglers are disturbed.
- Boats and electric motors are allowed. This is at your own risk!
- Having and wearing a life jacket is mandatory! You may not use the boat without one. - Angling is only permitted at the designated swims. Set up your bivvy at these spots.
- Dogs are allowed. It is mandatory to clean up their waste.
(Note that some breeds are banned in France!)
- Barbecue on legs may be used. (waste must be put in garbage bags)
- The sturgeon has a very weak back! Unhook it in the water. Let the sturgeon recover quietly after the fight.
DO NOT MOVE IT BACK AND FORTH THROUGH THE WATER, IT CAN DROWN.
- Should any rules change between your booking and arrival, you will be informed by the manager upon arrival

Bring yourself:
Unhooking mat, weigh sling, landing net and other angling equipment.

Parking
Cars allowed throughout the domain and may remain at the swim. Watch your speed, drive at walking pace.
Use the designated roads. Do not drive on the grass.

General rules
Maintenance may be carried out around the water and possibly on the swims to keep the location tidy. Unacceptable behaviour or excessive use of narcotics will lead to removal from the premises. Respect your surroundings and other anglers, so no unnecessary noise from radios, etc.
No visitors are allowed, other than the people who have been registered.
Children under 15 years of age are not allowed to fish without supervision.
The use of garbage bags is mandatory
Leave no waste behind, cigarette butts and old fishing line are also included, neatly put everything in the garbage bag.
Please use the toilet for your needs, WC available. (bring your own toilet paper)
After using the facilities, you are kindly but urgently requested to leave everything clean. Swimming is prohibited.
It is forbidden to have fire on the ground
Damaging trees and plants is strictly prohibited.
Free-roaming animals must be left undisturbed.
Persons who cause damage to property may be held liable for it. Caught fish remain the property of the reserved location and must be handled with the utmost care - NO KILL. Please respect the nature around you.

On all waters that Angling Escapes arranges, you are required to bring First Aid/Carp Care and treat the carp with it.

The manager, the owner, nor Angling Escapes is liable for loss and/or theft of goods or accidents and/or personal injury. Neither the manager/owners of the water nor Angling Escapes can be held responsible for damage or loss of your belongings.
Important, ensure that you have taken out travel and cancellation insurance.
If the above rules are not respected, the owner may at any time force you to leave the premises without any refund of the travel sum.
