Our experience – A weekend of fishing at Etang de Méry

We arrived on Friday afternoon. The first impression? A beautiful, peaceful setting. The lake looks beautiful, the water is a nice, natural color and the spots are spacious – plenty of room for your bivvy, rods and equipment.

After unloading and setting up the gear, we started exploring the cuttings. The bottom structure is very interesting: a nice gradient with sand, mud, pebbles and some aquatic plants here and there. After determining our spots, we fed lights and decided to go to bed early – the trip and setting up were tiring after all.

First catch at sunrise

Saturday morning, even before sunrise, we got the first bite. A beautiful mirror carp slid into the net – a perfect start to the weekend. The morning sky was enchanting, with mist slowly moving off the water. It felt like we were in a completely different world.

That day the temperature quickly rose above 35 degrees, but fortunately there was a breeze that kept it bearable in the shade.

Drone footage and adjust strategy

Later that day, we released the drone briefly over the water. This gave us a better view of the lake: behind the island, the water appeared to extend further – a kind of natural safety zone for the fish.

We decided to feed towards our cuttings from that zone, which paid off early Sunday morning: two beautiful fish on the mat, including even a colorful koi!

Between fishing…

In between, we went for a pizza in the village on Saturday – convenient that you have all the amenities within a short drive, without detracting from the tranquility on location.

We really enjoyed 48 hours on Etang de Méry. The atmosphere, the nature, the fish stock, the quiet location ánd the good facilities make this pay water an absolute must. Whether you are looking to relax or target big carp – Etang de Méry offers both.
