Lake Horgesti is one of Romania’s top destinations for catching large carp. With its rectangular layout, the lake measures approximately 900 meters in length and up to 350 meters wide. At full water level, it spans around 135 acres (54.7 hectares) and reaches a maximum depth of 3.5 meters.

Unlike traditional commercial waters, Lake Horgesti maintains a moderate carp density to support natural feeding and sustainable fish growth. The lake is rich in natural food sources such as snails, mosquito larvae, and crayfish—making it both a challenging and rewarding venue for experienced carp anglers. All pegs are easily accessible from the shore. People who like to travel with a camper or caravan have the possibility to stand at the lakeside and fish. Here we would like to emphasize the swims 20,21 or 22 where you have plenty of space and also electricity.

Lake Horgesti features 22 spacious, clearly marked fishing spots:

Cabin Pegs (Small): Pegs 5, 7, 11, 17, 21, and 22 come with wooden cabins (3x4m), including electricity, suitable for 1 angler + 2 non-anglers. Pegs 5 and 7 allow 2 anglers. No furniture is included—bring your own beds and sleeping bags.
Cabin Pegs (Large): Pegs 14, 15, and 16 offer upgraded cabins or premium setups.
Standard Pegs: Pegs 17, 18, and 19 are basic but accessible, without cabins or platforms.
Peg with Platform: Pegs 20, 21, and 22 feature wooden fishing platforms, ideal for anglers preferring to fish from a dock. Suitable for 2 anglers + 1 non-angler.

Just a 2-minute drive from the lake, the village of Horgești has a small local supermarket for everyday needs. For more extensive shopping, visitors can drive 37 minutes to Bacău, which also hosts the nearest airport.

Directions to Lake Horgesti
The lake is located in Bacău County.

From Bacău (approx. 30 km): Take the national road toward Vaslui. After crossing the Siret River, turn right onto DJ 252A. In Buhoci, turn left at the war monument and follow the road through Bibirești to reach Horgești. The route is fully paved.
From Bucharest: Take the E85 to Răcăciuni. Upon entering the town, turn right onto DJ 252 towards Pâncești. Cross the dam at Răcăciuni and continue to Horgești.
